Study Indicates Type II Collagen More Effective than Glucosamine + Chondroitin in Reducing Joint Pain and Stiffness In a 90-day study, researchers discovered that 40 mg of an undenatured type II collagen was more than twice as effective as 1500 mg of glucosamine + 1200 mg of chondroitin in reducing 3 clinical indicators associated with osteoarthritis: joint pain, stiffness and immobility (1). Collagen type II, along with hyaluronic acid and chondroitine sulfate are natural components of our joints, which are covered with a cartilage layer and lubrication liquid. Special treatment of gelatine allows high concentrations of these important nutrients for joint health. Mainstream joint health products today are mainly glucosamine and chondroitin containing dietary supplements. Neverthe-less, besides the growing evidence on the efficacy of collagen type II it seems also evident that nonsulfate salts of glucosamine, like for example glucosamine hydrochloride, are ineffective (2,3). SPONSER GLUCOSAMINE FORMULA is one of only few all-in-one joint health products combining glucosamine sulfate with collagen type II hydrolisates, containing high concentrations of hyaluronic acid, chondroitine sulfate, and cartilage matrix glycoprotein.
